Handouts and charity are NOT the
solution for poverty and other problems in Africa -
that’s
been proven over and over.
What Africa really needs is education and
enterprise that transforms communities so that
they believe in themselves and thrive through trade; not
merely survive from aid. This project
is all about teaching smart, ‘green’ sustainable wealth
creation and profitable business.
Africa’s wealth is already here, and we
need to unlock it by bringing new thought leadership
and truly sustainable enterprise to the people of Africa.
All over Africa, people with little skill and few qualifications flock to cities
in search of
employment and income. The effects of this are devastating,
driving up crime, pollution,
overpopulation and disease in enormous urban survival camps
and more importantly,
abandoning rural areas leaving pristine country side in the
hands of the sick and aged…
The Karatara Project was established to address all of this
and unleash Africa’s rural wealth.
Firstly, our objective is to be self-sustaining. We aim to do this by
investing in viable
profitable projects that fund our model.
Secondly, we link
these businesses to our curriculum
which is all about creating profit from ‘green’ community
enterprise in rural Africa.
Thirdly, we teach our students and the communities to be entrepreneurial and stand up for them selves
from day one. The core focus then s on broadening consciousness and holistic education
linked with entrepreneur al and enterprise development.
Sustainability it’s what makes us different!
